Fintry Roan Amber
1993 Red Roan (bay roan), 15.1
23.4% Joe Hancock 5X
28% Buck Hancock 3X
11.5% Peter McCue
How fortunate we were to introduce this stellar daughter of Heart Hancock
to our breeding program in the fall of 2010. Amber is the only full
sister to Red Roan Raider, both her and Raider were bred by Roy Cleveland,
Noquitea Ranch NE (50 year breeder). Red Roan Raider stood in Texas
until his untimely death at 15 years. Red Roan Raider was 14.3 & 1300
lbs of strength and quality. His sons and daughters are producing winners
from barrel racing and roping competitions to pick-up horses and ranch
horses.
Roan Ambrose was pasture bred his entire breeding career, running with
his mares all summer and used to pick up broncs in the fall by his owner
Roy Cleveland. He sired his last foal crop at 25 years old. His get
have been used in just about every event using a western saddle, from
rodeo’s grand entry to working the ranch.
Fintry Roan Amber came to Canada in-utero when Heart Hancock was imported
to Canada in 1992 by Don Woitte of Fintry Quarter Horses (50 year breeder).
Heart Hancock was sold back to Texas in 1997. All but 2 of Heart Hancock’s
Canadian born daughters have been sold back into Joe Hancock breeding
programs in the USA.
Other Hancock breeders have also appreciated Amber’s quality and pedigree.
To date she has had four sons, all standing in separate breeding programs…
from Western Canada to Washington, Oregon and Arkansas.

High percentage Buck Hancock mares are few and far between and we were
excited to add Fintry Cibecue Lady to our breeding program in 2008.
Lady’s dam Heart Hancock was line-bred Buck Hancock sire of ROM Race/AQHA
Champions/ROM Arena/Honor Roll Performance/Superior Performance/Superior
Halter/Producing Daughters & World Champion Calf Roping, 1952.
Lady’s sire Fintry Drift Hancock has been senior sire for Fintry Quarter
Horses for just about 20 years. He is the sire of performance bred horses
used for roping, ranching, penning, barrel racing etc. A well regarded
sire it was not uncommon for his entire years foal crop to be sold out,
private treaty, long before they were weaned.
Roan Prairie (25% Driftwood) sired by Cibecue Roan an Arena ROM and
High Point Roping Stallion, who sired AQHA Superior and show ROM as
well as a Youth High Point Working Cow Horse and an AQHA Youth World
Champion Western Riding gelding. Roan Prairie was used as a pickup horse
at pro rodeos such as Cheyenne. Acquired by Roy Cleveland of NE (a 50
year breeder) when he was 18 years old, based on the reputation of the
geldings he sired. Roan Prairie was best known for his only siring son,
the incomparable, High Rolling Roany. Roan Prairie’s influence has been
mainly through his daughters, who have produced scores of good rope
and ranch horses and sires of the same.
Heart Hancock has had a positive and lasting influence through multiple
North American “Joe Hancock” breeding programs.
Lady’s breeding career has not been as prolific as her sister, Fintry
Roan Amber, but the quality is there. Her first foaled son stood at
stud for a breeder here in Alberta.
