Steel Bars; arguably one of Joe Hancock's most beautiful, versatile and legendary
grandsons, and one of our favourite stallions of the past. Steel Bars AA
acquired his ROM race and was the 1957 AQHA High Point Halter Stallion, he
is the sire of: Superior Halter, Superior Performance, AQHA Champions, NCHA
money earners, NSBA money earners, Race money earners, ROM race and Stakes
Winners. He is also on the AQHA Performance List #17 all time leading broodmare
sire of AQHA Champions (16).
Steel Bars' dam Joan is one of the most well known of the Joe Hancock daughters.
Joan was for many years owned by Walter Merrick (best known as the breeder
of Easy Jet) and produced other superior progeny such as Hot Heels (by Midnight
Jr) who in turn produced Bob's Folly AAA.
Grandget of Steel Bars still producing are not very common. Most of Steel
Bars remaining blood is found mixed with more modern halter & pleasure
bloodlines. We feel fortunate to have found a granddaughter whose other
bloodlines are comprised of older foundation working blood.
Oklahoma Star is another Quarter Horse legend whose blood runs deep in many
of today's professional rodeo horses. Miss Dazzling Steel has 3 lines to
Oklahoma Star, twice through Star Duster another Quarter Horse legend. Miss
Dazzling Steel spent the first 8 years of her life as a dependable saddle
horse in Utah. She is pretty, sweet tempered and a good mother. Her compact
low to the ground body balance will lend itself well to producing prospects
for tie down roping, heeling and working cowhorse.
